Programs
Network and advocacy
Network and Advocacy Program is managed by San Mala, a prominent human rights and environmental defender.
Our program consists of three main projects as follows:
Defenders of Defenders: This project aims to provide support, encouragement, and campaigning to bring justice to frontline activists who have been arrested because of their activism. Specifically, this project will compile frontline activists’ stories of their struggles, experiences, and success stories in the fields of environment, human rights, and democracy. These stories will be published through online platforms, book printing, and documentary videos.
Capacity Building: We provide training on the legal basis related to constitutional rights, fundamental rights of Cambodian citizens, national and international human rights mechanisms, protection policies, and laws related to environmental protection. After participating in these trainings, youth and local communities are expected to be fully capable of disseminating this knowledge to their communities and networks, as well as advocating for the protection of natural resources, rights, and common interests from any violations.
Increasing Public participation in environmental protection and human rights work: To uphold and promote freedom of expression and freedom of assembly, PED Cambodia has been actively supporting, co-organize and monitoring public gatherings organized by youth activists and CSOs working in the field of human rights and environmental protection.
Media Program
Our Projects:
Media Training for Youth Activists and Local Communities: PED provides media training covering skills such as photography, smartphone video production, short news writing, and reporting. These training sessions are tailored to our target communities in Preah Vihea Province and urban youth activists.
Media Production: We produce short and medium-length documentary videos focusing on environmental issues, human rights, and democracy. Additionally, we monitor and film peaceful assemblies, sharing the footage with the public.
