Nine Year Anniversary of Kem Ley’s Murder

On 10 July 2025 at 8:00 AM, civil society group, unions, associations, and youths will be gathering at Caltex Bokor to commemorate the 9-year anniversary of the death of Kem Ley, who was a prominent political analyst and human rights defender. Kem Ley was shot dead while having his morning coffee on 10 July 2016 at the Star Mart in the Caltex gas station at the Bokor traffic stop in Phnom Penh.
This assembly will commemorate his heroism and sacrifice to defend human rights and freedom of expression, and as well as to continue call for justice for him and his family.
The event will start with people laying flowers and giving speeches, and then we will travel to Wat Chas pagoda located in Chroy Changva district, Phnom Penh, to conduct a Buddhist offering to Kem Ley.
